The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Work Program

Under the direction of Marion County Sheriff Bayles

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Inmate Work Program is designed to provide inmate workers for specific work projects within the Marion County government as well as the townships and villages in Marion County. The inmate workers will not be used for private business.

This program is strictly volunteer. The participants (sentenced inmates from Marion Municipal Court and Common Pleas Court) are strictly interviewed and vetting by the Sheriff’s Office, The Multi-County Correctional Center, and the sentencing court before being permitted to leave the jail facility and be part of the work crews. As a reward the inmates are given time off their sentence in accordance with the laws of the state of Ohio. This program and the reduction in sentences are both permitted by the Ohio Revised Code.

The inmate work program started in March of 2023.

The inmates have been happy to get a chance to work and give back to the community.
